A survey had many well-known titles, including Destiny 2, compete against each other to find out which games have the most toxic behavior towards younger players. Results from 2022 show that your beloved loot shooter is in 4th place.
What was the survey about? The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) in collaboration with the gaming analysis company Newzoo conducted a nationwide survey in the USA. It focused on hate and harassment in online multiplayer games.
According to this 2022 survey, Destiny 2 was ranked 4th (65%) regarding hate against younger players (ages 10 – 17 years). The loot shooter could only be surpassed by Fortnite (66%), DOTA 2 (71%), and Valorant (80%).
In 2023, the same survey was conducted again, but with 1,971 players who were meant to represent the US gamer population (ages 10 – 45 years). The results might surprise you.
2023 survey shows better values
The 2023 survey shows that Destiny 2 has now dropped from 4th to 17th place. A significant decrease of 10%. At the top are PUBG (71%), LoL (70%), and CoD (68%). We have listed the percentage values and listings from the ADL here.
What do players say about the list? On Reddit, the result revealed by the American television broadcaster MSNBC is met with mockery. Many players cannot understand the result and refer to many games that are much more toxic based on their experiences than Destiny 2. Here are some voices:

Why is LoL not on the list? In the survey, only players between the ages of 10 and 17 were specifically asked. LoL’s player base is known to be older, and only a few are of the age to be relevant to the survey.
When looking at the values for hate against adults, it shows that LoL is in 4th place (76%). DOTA 2 is the winner with 88%, while CoD (83%), Valorant (80%), and GTA (79%) cause less hate.
