It doesn’t always have to be a hundred players or more fighting on the battlefield of a shooter. Intense co-op action with four players can also be fun. This is what the upcoming shooter Remnant: From the Ashes on PC, PS4, and Xbox One aims to prove.
Fight for the survival of humanity!
The scenario: In an unspecified future, the world lies in ruins. Creatures from other dimensions have invaded Earth and devastated the blue planet. Humanity is on the brink of extinction.
A brave group of heroes sets out to uncover the secret of the invasion to stop the dark beings and save humanity. But the answer to this salvation is hidden in the other dimensions. You venture forth together with up to three friends to explore these dimensions and defeat the enemies.
Survival meets co-op shooter. Remnant: From the Ashes aims to combine survival elements with shooter action and immerses you in a post-apocalyptic world similar to Fallout 76, but with extradimensional monsters. You fight your way through multiple dimensions and must come up with good team strategies for how to defeat the beings. Because these become more powerful from world to world.
The ideas of the game:
- Face new challenges – Throughout your journey through the dimensions, you will encounter increasingly new enemies. These range from small hordes of scare creatures to gigantic monsters. You must learn how to defeat each type of enemy.
- Explore dynamic game areas – Each dimension you visit will offer you different landscapes and other creatures that live there. By exploring these places, you gain experience and learn how to survive in the worlds.
- Crafting and upgrading – In the various worlds, you will also meet merchants who need your help. If you protect them, they will assist you in crafting new weapons and gear as well as upgrading your existing items. This is essential to take on the increasingly powerful enemies.
- Teamplay is important – While it should be possible to play Remnant: From the Ashes solo, you are stronger as a team with up to three co-players. Together you take on the dangerous monsters and manage to survive longer.
- Choose a suitable character – When selecting your hero, you have various archetypes to choose from, each with different abilities as well as advantages and disadvantages. These archetypes will be introduced in detail at a later time.
Survival meets RPGs and co-op action
For fans of shooter action, co-op gameplay, survival, and RPGs. Remnant: From the Ashes is not just a shooter that you play cooperatively. The title also mixes in survival elements like surviving in foreign environments and crafting better gear along with RPG features. You can choose an archetype that has specific abilities and also improve these skills.
Remnant targets all players who enjoy multiplayer action, like to enhance their characters, and find some survival elements appealing. However, the action is heavily compressed to provide fast and intense gameplay. For this reason, only four players can play in co-op.
This is not a battle royale shooter with a hundred players or more. Remnant is also not a survival game like Conan Exiles, where you encounter dozens of other players. But it also does not aim to be a pure single-player shooter.
Release? 2019 for PC, PS4, Xbox One
PvP is currently unknown. At the moment there are no indications that there will be any PvP modes. There’s talk of a co-op shooter. Perhaps the developers will announce PvP modes at a later point. This cannot be ruled out.
Gamescom and release. At Gamescom, the developer studio Gunfire Games, the studio behind the upcoming action game Darksiders 3, will release more information about Remnant: From the Ashes. The title is even said to be playable at the fair. The action game is set to be released in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
