Since the first alpha, players of the Western MMO Wild West Online have been wondering how the developers plan to release the still unfinished title this year. It is now clear: not at all. The release has been postponed.
On the Facebook page, the developers explain: “Although we liked the idea of releasing the game in December, the past weeks have shown us that we need to spend more time in early access alpha before we can present the game to a larger audience. Therefore: No, Wild West Online will not be released this December.”

Work is progressing well
The team is confident that they can complete most tasks that were originally intended for a release this year by the end of 2017. However, there were additional matters that players noted and deemed important. These include:
- Combat from horseback
- Hunting wild animals
- Better structured PvP events
- Global events
The developers want to integrate these features into the game before the release. Additionally, optimizations and adjustments to gameplay are needed to make the experience more enjoyable. This, however, means that some game systems need to be developed from scratch. And that takes time.

Better communication with players planned
Furthermore, the team wants to communicate more openly with fans. They are working on an interactive roadmap that clearly shows what is being worked on. Additionally, they plan to release updates on progress every two weeks.
The team has not yet announced a new release date for Wild West Online.
With this, what participants in the alpha and early access phase of Wild West Online have been saying for a while has now come true: A release this year was unrealistic, and now the team has realized this as well. In the end, this can only lead to a better game.
The developers of Wild West Online have big goals for their online game and even refer to it as “Multiplayer Red Dead Redemption.”
