ARAM is a popular fun mode in League of Legends. Instead of large tactics, there is 5v5 brawling on a single bridge. As part of a new presentation, Riot has announced an update for the mode that not only changes the map.
What is ARAM? ARAM stands for “All Random All Mid” and is a permanent mode in LoL that differs from the classic MOBA structure. Instead of large objectives and 3 lanes, players brawl in ARAM on a single lane with random champions.
For many players, ARAM is the relaxing alternative to regular LoL. You don’t have to deal with lane management or jungle monsters, just fighting. Many people only play ARAM now.
In a new dev update (YouTube), Riot announced a new update for ARAM. Along with a new map and a return, they will also change how champions are chosen.
A New Map and Rotation for Variety
What will change in ARAM? Currently, League of Legends is in the 2nd Season of 2025. It thematically and visually focuses on the Spirit Blossom
theme. ARAM is also supposed to represent this now. On June 25, 2025 (Patch 25.13), a new version of the map will come into play, which will also bring a different soundtrack and death screen.
This will also change the hexgates; you now have 2 portals at the top and bottom in the center of the map.
To ensure some variety, the style of the map will be rotated. The popular pirate map Butcher’s Bridge is also returning. This map was first introduced during the Bilgewater: Burning Tides
event. In this map, there are now cannons that shoot you straight into the action.
So, when you start an ARAM game, you will get one of the 3 maps: Howling Abyss, Spirit Blossom, or Butcher’s Bridge.

The champion selection will also be slightly adjusted. Now, when you are in the champion selection, you will see 2 champions (with luck even 3) to choose from. Once you pick one, the remaining champions will stay in the pool for the whole team.
Rerolls will disappear, but you now have direct access to at least 2 champions even if you have no rerolls.
Besides the new ARAM changes, Riot announced the new champion Yunara in the dev update, who is set to be a classic auto-attack ADC. A new meta-game in the form of a 2D beat-’em-up is set to appear as well. The story of the current season will continue with this. More information will be available in 2 weeks. Unlike the last meta-game, you won’t need to play any LoL matches for it: LoL is releasing a new mini-game in the style of a Steam hit, but to unlock everything, you need to play the real League of Legends
