The product description of Red Dead Redemption 2 in the official PlayStation Store suggests that there will be time-exclusive content for the Western game on PS4.
Time-exclusive content is not particularly popular with players. However, console manufacturers like Sony and Microsoft continually try to attract more players to their hardware through this method. They make deals with various game publishers, which means that certain content is withheld from other platforms for a certain period of time.

The creators of RDR 2 have now evidently entered into such a deal with Sony. On June 4, 2018, Rockstar Games announced a series of different editions and pre-order bonuses for its upcoming Western game Red Dead Redemption 2. Since then, the game has been listed in the official PlayStation Store as well. There are also indications that suggest time exclusivity.
Time-Exclusive Content for PS4

Note in the PS Store: From the product description there, there is a sentence that suggests that PlayStation players will have time-exclusive content. It states: “PlayStation exclusive: Play selected content first on PS4.” What is meant by this selected content is not explained further. Details are expected to follow at a later time.
What time-exclusive content could be conceivable? Almost anything that exists in digital content could be possible – from cosmetic items like hats to weapons to entire DLCs.
Known examples include the Destiny series or the Call of Duty games. The publisher Activision made an agreement with Sony, through which weapons, PvP maps, and even strikes were withheld from Destiny players on Xbox for years – despite them paying the same price for the title as the Guardians on PS4. This trend continued with Destiny 2 and several Call of Duty titles.
What do you think of time-exclusive content? Will this influence your purchasing decision?
