Players in Red Dead Redemption 2 are getting impatient. There hasn’t been a major update for the online mode Red Dead Online for a long time. This Western MMO was supposed to be as big as GTA Online. There is already mockery directed at Rockstar.
The current situation looks like this: Red Dead Online is still receiving support from smaller fixes and updates, but nothing significant has happened in the game for a long time.
Recently, a nasty racist cheat was removed that allowed hackers to spawn members of the Ku Klux Klan in the game. Otherwise, it’s mainly funny scenes in the game that entertain the community.
Things got really exciting in Red Dead Online last in December 2019. There, Rockstar introduced a new role and expanded the story mission a bit.
Now fans are demanding a new update – the last one was about 7 months ago.
“It’s been 84 years….”
There’s currently mockery about this: in the Subreddit of Red Dead Online, a picture surfaced that many players can relate to. It shows three older men playing together. The caption reads “Me and the boys, playing the next RDO update.”
The post has since been deleted by the moderators of the subreddit, but until then, it was one of the top threads.
What do other players say about it? There is much agreement with the post:

- rasikww has already made his decision about the game and says: “I wouldn’t play Red Dead anymore if Cyberpunk was already out…”
Content drought prevents major upswing after Steam launch
This is a problem: Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced as the next big game from Rockstar after GTA 5. As with GTA 5, it quickly became clear that Rockstar would not provide single-player DLCs, but wanted to keep feeding the multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, with content.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in October 2018. Red Dead Online launched in November. After the multiplayer part started off rather slow, it seemed to pick up pace with some updates and the port to PC at the end of 2019. In January 2020, Red Dead Online even achieved a player record – the launch on Steam went really well.
But that was also the only hurrah of that year.
While GTA Online continues to distribute weekly bonuses and even released a massive update with the casino last year, things have really quieted down in Red Dead Online in 2020.
As of now, nothing is known about an upcoming update for Red Dead Online. Until then, we will have to entertain ourselves with quirky actions. For example, hundreds of thousands are laughing at an extreme sled ride by a player. Such videos keep popping up and amuse numerous viewers and fans of Red Dead Redemption 2.
