While many players are now counting down the final hours until the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, the first test results are emerging. The reviews on Metacritic paint an extremely positive picture of the game:
- This is what the press says: The specialized press is currently praising Red Dead Redemption 2 to the skies. Scores of 100 and good 90 scores are currently the majority. Only occasionally is the game significantly criticized. Thus, Red Dead Redemption 2 currently has an impressive overall score of 97 based on 50 reviews (as of October 25, 2018, 1:45 PM).
- This is what players are saying: So far, only selected testers have had the pleasure of testing Red Dead Redemption 2. Therefore, there are currently no user reviews. These are expected no earlier than early morning on October 26, 2018, when Red Dead Redemption 2 officially releases.

Slant Magazine – In the end, just a backdrop
The weakest rating so far of 70 points was given by Slant Magazine. It criticizes, among other things, the cumbersome controls. The main criticism, however, is that the world makes every effort to seem open and realistic, but in the end is just a backdrop for the player’s adventures.
Everything happens just so that it promises maximum drama for the story. Additionally, the system for repaying one’s bounty is a stark contradiction to the theme of the game.
