The Western adventure Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released in spring 2018. The release window can now be further narrowed down.
The day before yesterday, the team from RockstarGames announced that the action-adventure Red Dead Redemption 2 will no longer be released this year. Originally, RockstarGames planned for a release in autumn 2017, but has now postponed it to spring 2018. New information now allows for a rough time frame to be determined in which the game set in the Western setting is expected to be released.
Financial report excludes March as release
In the official announcement regarding the delay of Red Dead Redemption 2, fans were informed that they can expect a release in spring 2018. With this vague description, one might assume that a release could take place as early as March. However, a current financial report excludes March and states that it is likely that the game can be expected to be released at the earliest in April 2018.
According to RockstarGames, Red Dead Redemption 2 will only be released in fiscal year 2019. Since the current fiscal year is still active until March 2018, this means that we cannot expect a release of the game before April 1, 2018. The fiscal year 2019 runs from April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019.
Why the delay?
Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in the eternal and merciless vastness in the heart of America. It has been developed from the ground up for the current console generation and needs a bit more time before it can be presented to fans. On the official website, the team stated that they want to release a game only when it is truly finished.
The delay of the game does not relate to specific problems, but rather has to do with RockstarGames’ desire to provide its fans with a very special gaming experience. Additionally, players should feel the usual quality of RockstarGames in this game. To create this experience, the developers need more time.
