Red Dead Redemption 2: NPC kills colleague, saves player – They wonder why

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players are currently puzzling over an unusual NPC rescue act. A cowboy suddenly became a vigilante – but why?

This is what happened: On reddit, user DMarlow310 reported his experience. After being rudely approached by an NPC, Arthur made a fitting response. The NPC certainly didn’t want to accept that and immediately started a fight – with fists.

The player initially just focused on blocking, as witnesses in RDR2 usually only start to snitch when you become aggressive. Just as he was about to attack, the player said on YouTube, suddenly another NPC intervened.

As seen in the video, the NPC did not intervene in favor of the other NPC, as the player expected. On the contrary: He pulled out his knife and ended the fight with a sneaky attack – on the other NPC.

“I’ve never seen an NPC do something like that,” the player finally wrote on Reddit. The post received over 3000 upvotes – and other players also started pondering what was going on.

This is how the community reacts: Overall, the comments are quite surprised. Normally, in fights, you can expect NPCs to rush to each other’s aid. However, it’s new for an NPC to take advantage of the situation to eliminate one of his colleagues.

  • “He saw his chance and took it,” comments user xi-GoinHam. Could the NPC have been planning this act for a long time?
  • “Now I want to see if I can do that too! Maybe it has to do with the fact that you only blocked and didn’t hit, so the AI perceived the other as a troublemaker?” user Bladehelm suggests.
  • “I guess the NPC agreed with you!” user Raynachu speculates.
  • And user Bloodaxe47 expresses his profound impression: “This is new. Even now, you still discover new things in this amazing game.”

Unusual events occur repeatedly in Red Dead Redemption 2 frequently. Why exactly the NPC struck remains a mystery. Did the NPC simply have enough of always being in the background? That would be a story quite similar to one that will take place in an upcoming movie:
