The recently released Red Dead Redemption 2 is not free from bugs. Here you can find out what you can do against the annoying loading screen bug.
Several players have reported a bug in Red Dead Redemption 2 lately, which prevents them from leaving the loading screen. We have compiled several methods that might help you with the problem.
Another bug makes your gang members disappear, by the way.
What does the bug do? Players report that they get stuck on the loading screen when starting the game. They either see a black screen or the changing loading images.
Continuing to play is impossible this way. Some players write that they have waited up to 40 minutes for RDR 2 to load. The cause of the bug is still unknown.
Some possibilities to fix the bug have now been compiled on Reddit.

Navigate blindly to the save games
This is how the fix works: As some players report, the game has already loaded for them, but simply does not exit the loading screen. They can navigate through the menus in the background but do not see it, as the loading screen obscures their view. The players take advantage of this and simply navigate blindly to the save games.
This is how it works on Xbox One and PlayStation 4:
- Press Start/Options during the loading screen
- Press down on the D-Pad four times and then press A on Xbox One or X on PlayStation
- You are now in the save menu and can press A/X twice to overwrite your existing save file
- Then press B or Circle until you exit the options
Now you can load your new save file:
- Press Start/Options again
- Press down on the D-Pad four times and then press A on Xbox One or X on PlayStation
- Press right on the D-Pad once and press A/X twice to load your new save game
Clear the console cache
For some players, simply clearing the cache of their console helped. Temporary files are stored in the cache, which can occasionally lead to issues.
This is how to clear the cache on Xbox One:
- Press and hold the Xbox button until your Xbox One has completely powered off
- Once the lights on the console and power supply are off, unplug the power supply from the back of the console
- Wait at least 30 seconds and plug the Xbox back into the power supply
- Now turn the console back on and start the game
This is how to clear the cache on PlayStation 4:
- Press and hold the PS button on the controller and select the option to turn off the console
- Allow your PlayStation 4 to completely shut down and wait at least 30 seconds before restarting it

Restart the console or re-download the game
Players give additional tips: Not all players found the above solutions helpful. However, some write that they simply restarted the console or deleted their local save files to bypass this bug.
If nothing helps, you can still uninstall the game and reinstall it from the disk or download it again. However, this might take a while, after all, the download is about 105 GB in size.
