Again, there are rumors surrounding a PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2. Allegedly, it’s once again about Stadia, Google’s gaming platform. The rumors predict that a release for Google Stadia and possibly for PC will be announced as early as this coming Monday, just before the opening of gamescom 2019.
What is this rumor about? Players are eagerly waiting for the cowboy adventure Red Dead Redemption 2 to be announced for PC. The title was already released for consoles PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. Since then, there have been rumors that Rockstar is also planning a PC port – but none has been announced.
According to a rumor, Rockstar might soon spill the beans. Allegedly, a PC release could be announced tomorrow, on August 19, during the Stadia Connect.
During the presentation, Google will present further details about their gaming platform Stadia on Monday at 7 PM – this happens just before the opening of gamescom 2019.
Where does this rumor come from? A Reddit user has connected existing hints in a post. The user has drawn his conclusions with the help of various articles from US media, as well as with information from alleged insiders.
However, there are also points that seem less conclusive, such as that Red Dead Redemption 2 is supposed to come exclusively to the Epic Games Store.
What speaks in favor? Even before the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 on consoles, there were always rumors about a PC release:
- For example, entries of a PC version were found in the resumes of former Rockstar developers.
- Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also believes that “there’s no downside” to releasing RDR2 on PC, but often dodges specific questions about a release.
Recently, there were also possible hints regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 with Google’s Stadia. At the Game Developers Conference last March, various images with icons indicating upcoming games were shown during a presentation. One of these images featured elements that can clearly be associated with cowboys.

Recently, Rockstar’s logo was seen in a livestream on Google’s Stadia. In the presentation, 28 games were presented that will be available at the launch of the service. The logos of Rockstar, Capcom, and Electronic Arts were also visible. They were marked with an asterisk, indicating that these publishers could release their content at their discretion.
Release could be late 2019
What about the PC? The Reddit user speculates that if RockStar is already porting “Red Dead Redemption 2” with high-resolution textures for Stadia, it would only make sense to announce a PC release as well.
According to an insider, Rockstar is supposedly planning this for the release window in Fall 2019, i.e., between October and December.
