Red Dead Redemption 2 has only been announced for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One so far. There’s been no word on a PC release yet. However, according to a former Rockstar employee, a version for PC is apparently in the works.
Where does the info about the PC version come from? The social media platform LinkedIn is primarily used for maintaining business contacts and establishing new career opportunities. Therefore, a former Rockstar employee has registered there and listed his past involvements in his profile.
What is interesting is his last project: Red Dead Redemption 2. According to the profile, it was created for the consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And also for PC!
Is the PC version still coming?
Was the PC version unofficially leaked? So far, Red Dead Redemption 2 has only been announced for consoles. The PC version has not been confirmed yet.
There was only one statement from Rockstar emphasizing the importance of PC as a platform. Many fans saw this as an unofficial confirmation of the PC version.
Will it go like with GTA 5?
It was similar with Rockstar’s last big hit GTA 5: A PC version was also not mentioned until the release of the console versions. Only to present an improved edition for the PC later, which received a very good response.
However, PC players had to wait until April 2015 for GTA V. The game was available on PS4 and Xbox One since November 2014, and on PS3 and Xbox 360 since September 2013.
It is quite possible that Rockstar will take a similar approach with Red Dead Redemption. Especially the planned online mode should work particularly well on PC. Many players are already very excited about all the cool mods that will surely pop up like mushrooms after the release on PC.
