Actually, players cannot travel to Red Dead Redemption 2 in Mexico. One player managed to do it now and finds that everything looks just like in Red Dead Redemption. This raises hopes for a DLC with new areas.
In Red Dead Redemption 2, it is not possible to travel to Mexico with your horse or other means of transportation. The area is locked, and there is no direct way to get there. In the predecessor, Red Dead Redemption, Mexico was part of the adventure.
What’s new? A glitch led a Reddit user to stumble into Mexico from RDR 2. He discovered that the areas from the two games surprisingly resemble each other.

As described by Reddit user Coyotemation, the entire Mexican area in RDR 2 is supposed to be the same area that was found in Red Dead Redemption. Just copied over. It wasn’t greatly modified. However, it looks better now due to the improved engine.

Here are the details: The only spot with more details is the army fortress El Presidio. But even that is only supposed to look like a porting of the models. Even the boxes on the watchtower are present in the same quantity.

Are the images real? Some players doubt the authenticity of the images. However, there are already guides on YouTube showing how to reach the location in Red Dead Redemption 2. You have to follow a river in the west. Then you have to break through an invisible wall. This happens by sprinting and jumping.
After that, you find yourself in Mexico without a horse. If you want, you can activate a cheat code to summon your horse to explore the area.
Players wanted to see Mexico in RDR 2: Before Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, there were already some leaks. Including the map of RDR 2. When players saw that Mexico was not among the playable areas, they were disappointed.
Fans’ Speculations – DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2?
What fans believe: After these findings, many fans now believe that Rockstar Games is planning a DLC for RDR 2 that unlocks Mexico. This could then be released as a single-player DLC or perhaps play an important role in Red Dead Online.
Why is Mexico even there? Players wonder: Why would Rockstar include Mexico in RDR 2 if they don’t plan to use it? Comicbook answers this question aptly and says: Because they needed a model. When players are in the southern part of New Austin, where the river separates the United States and Mexico, they need to see something on the other side and not look into emptiness.
Instead of designing new textures, the developers then used the models from Red Dead Redemption. So the theory.
So, is Mexico not coming as a DLC? That is not certain at this point. However, one should not see the new findings as proof that Mexico will definitely be visited in the future.
