The hardware giant Razer has announced that it will help combat the coronavirus by producing essential goods. Although the gaming company is primarily known for mice, headsets, and the like, surgical masks are now included in its product range.
How is Razer helping? In a tweet, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan announced that Razer will also start manufacturing surgical masks. This is to support hospitals and doctors in tackling the currently raging coronavirus worldwide and saving infected patients.
For the production of surgical masks, resources will be reallocated. It seems that Razer is currently partially forgoing the production of its well-known colorful hardware to instead manufacture these masks.
However, the masks will not be sold in the store but will be directly donated to the supported clinics. So far, we do not know in which countries Razer intends to distribute the masks or what they will look like.

The masks are not the first time that Razer has stepped out of its comfort zone. At the urging of many fans, the hardware giant is now even producing toasters:
Masks are in short supply
Why is this so important? The current corona crisis is causing many people to feel compelled to hoard. This is not just about toilet paper and pasta.
Some practices are reporting that they no longer have enough protective clothing and masks to supply their employees because individuals are hoarding protective masks and disinfectants.
Many doctors fear a shortage of these important items (via rbb24). Razer’s initiative could specifically help against this – provided the masks actually reach clinics and practices.
Impact of the coronavirus on gamers: Razer is not the first company to respond to the coronavirus. The disease COVID-19, declared a pandemic due to the virus, is causing cutbacks, changes, and even penalties in many areas:
