In the tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege, the new event “The Grand Larceny” begins today, on Tuesday, May 5th. This brings a completely new game mode with special rules and a bunch of exclusive skins.
What kind of event is this? “The Grand Larceny” is a limited-time event in Rainbow Six: Siege. Thematically, it is inspired by the “wild” or “golden” 1920s. It plays with the charm of that era, focusing on the famous crimes and criminals that became well-known at the time, such as Bonnie and Clyde.
When does it take place? The event starts today, May 5th, and lasts for two weeks. It ends on May 19th. We have embedded the trailer for you here:
New Game Mode: “The Grand Larceny”
What is this game mode? In the new game mode, you play on a modified version of the Hereford Base map. As usual, two teams face off against each other. However, there are neither bombs nor hostages, the victory condition is unique.
Throughout the map, safes are scattered around. Defenders win if the safes remain secured or if all attackers are dead. Attackers win if they open three safes or kill the defenders.
The safes are visible to both teams at all times, so you know exactly where you need to attack or defend. However, you also need to be more cautious, as your opponent has the same information.
What are the special features? In addition to the unique victory condition, “The Grand Larceny” has some additional restrictions:
- there is no preparation phase and no drones, the action starts immediately
- each operator has only a shotgun as their primary weapon equipped with the event skin
- some operators like Kali, IQ, Tachanka, and others are banned. However, the nerfed Ying is playable
- floors are completely destructible, there are no obstructive metal beams
All of this makes the mode quite action-packed and a true bullet hell, as the floors can be completely destroyed with the shotguns. You should be especially mindful not to get overwhelmed when your cover gets shot out.
Similar features have already been seen in the limited “Golden Gun” mode. Perhaps players will also show their skills here and wipe out an entire team in just a few seconds.
New, Exclusive Cosmetics and Challenges
What new cosmetics are there? Overall, there will be 31 new cosmetic items in the event, including skins for some weapons and for the operators:
- Amaru
- Fuze
- Gridlock
- Hibana
- Maverick
- Echop
- Maestro
- Kaid
- Wamai
- Warden
You can view the skins in the exclusive mode, as all operators and weapons available there are already equipped with the event skins, if they have one. So far, the skins look significantly nicer than the last ones,for which players even demanded an apology.
Additionally, there is the “Loud Wealth” package with a weapon design and a pendant available for purchase during the event.
How can I get them? During the event, you can buy or earn “The Grand Larceny” packs. A pack costs 300 R6 Credits (about €2.50) or 12,500 renown. There are also special challenges, such as achieving 20 kills in the playlist, which rewards you with a pack.
