Players who are offensive in Rainbow Six Siege will no longer be automatically banned. Ubisoft is implementing a new system.
What is the starting point? Players of Rainbow Six Siege were previously automatically banned by a system if they insulted other players with racist, homophobic, or other expressions. Ubisoft relied on a system that scanned the chats for offensive expressions and then banned the affected players. This system has been active since the summer.
The new system from Ubisoft also recognizes the offensive expressions just as well, but the method for banning players is now different.
We will tell you what is new.
Players receive notifications
What is new now? Ubisoft is now using a new chat filter. If this finds an offensive expression, the affected player receives a private message. They will be informed that their remark is being reviewed and may lead to a ban.
The following message is now received by the players: “The following message was not sent and is being reviewed for inappropriate behavior: *Wording*”
The new system does not directly ban a player but warns them initially. Ubisoft is thus adopting a type of moderation style.
Therefore, the change is coming: Ubisoft explained the change by stating that the old system would also affect other players. This imposes disadvantages on them, as they lose their teammates for example. This should no longer be the case with the new system, as the affected player receives a private message and may only be banned later.
What is changing for the players now? Players who are offensive will still be banned. This change does not give players a free pass for insults. Only the notification system is being changed. The offensive words will still be recognized equally.
What do you think about this change? Is this a step in the right direction?
