Rainbow Six: Siege has been on the market since 2015. After 7 years, it finally gets a game mode that fans have been demanding since day one. It is one of the oldest and most common game modes in shooters. MeinMMO reveals more.
The tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege remains very popular even 7 years after its release. Almost 80,000 players regularly play the shooter on Steam. However, since day one, fans have requested one of the most common shooter game modes: Team Deathmatch.
With the introduction of Season 1 in Year 7, Ubisoft has finally fulfilled this eternal wish for fans: From today, you can finally play Team Deathmatch in Rainbow Six: Siege on test servers. And this mode will remain available even after the proper release of the latest season, expected in about 2 weeks.
Rainbow Six: Siege brings Team Deathmatch with Year 7 Season 1
Because Rainbow Six: Siege has been running for so long, they additionally break down the seasons into years. In the official presentation trailer of Year 7 Season 1, numerous things were introduced. Some of them expectations of the tactical shooter fans, others have been demanded for a long time. Among them are:
- A new character, the Japanese defender Azami
- A new map, a castle in Ireland, coming in the middle of the season
- Attackers can reconsider their character choice during the preparation phase
- All operators have access to all 1x target devices
- Numerous balancing adjustments
But a new feature is also catching the attention of players who haven’t played Rainbow Six: Siege for a long time: The popular game mode Team Deathmatch is finally coming to the tactical shooter after 7 years. This fulfills a fan demand that has existed since the release.
This is how it looks in action:
With Year 7 Season 1 starting today on test servers, players in Rainbow Six: Siege can finally also enjoy Team Deathmatch. This mode will remain once the season officially appears – expected in about 2 weeks.
The mode was already playable on test servers last season, and now it is officially in the game. And this will be forever.
Team Deathmatch puts the gunplay of Rainbow Six: Siege in focus
Why do fans want Team Deathmatch? The gunplay in Rainbow Six: Siege has been praised for years, but especially newcomers and returners have a tough time with the game. And the problem is getting worse:
After 7 years of updates with new maps, characters, gadgets, and weapons, the already complex tactical shooter has become even harder to grasp – especially for players who play rarely or who are completely new.
Because you die quickly in Rainbow Six: Siege and the weapons are not very easy to handle, frustrating deaths happen. Since there are no quick respawns in this tactical shooter, you often spend more time watching your teammates than actually playing.
Because just watching doesn’t make you a better shooter, Rainbow Six: Siege quickly becomes frustrating. The “Team Deathmatch” mode should help with this:
Thanks to fast-paced action with quick respawns, you can enjoy the gunplay of the tactical shooter in a game mode that punishes deaths less drastically. This also helps to learn the characters, maps, and weapons in a less sweaty environment.
What do the fans say? Fans are understandably very happy about the new game mode. However, they see it as an addition to the main game, not a replacement.
- Deltronium says on reddit: “Team Deathmatch. This was desperately needed.”
- johnyF01 thinks this game mode is “a good way to relieve some stress from the main game.”
- For RS_Superior, TDM is a good innovation. For him, it’s “just a quick, easy-to-learn game mode to practice aiming and prepare for some full matches.”
More updates for Team Deathmatch are also set to be released. Ubisoft promises in the video new maps and further improvements to the spawn system, which was still criticized during the test phase of the last season.
Team Deathmatch is not the only option for fans of Rainbow Six to play the gunplay and characters at a slightly different pace. The coop spin-off game Rainbow Six: Extraction has also been out since 2022, and surprisingly excites players:
