A dataminer has shown a video featuring new operators for the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege. The operators, along with other content shown, are expected to be released in 2020, in Seasons 3 and 4 of Year 5.
What kind of operators are they? The video has introduced two new operators: the attacker Scout and the defender Aruni. Both have been speculated about for some time in the community. Now, the new leak confirms players’ assumptions.
Scout, in particular, has been a topic for a while. The operator apparently comes from the same unit as agent Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell). There seems to be a cross-promotion between the two “Tom Clancy” franchises (via GameStar).
The defender Aruni might be even more interesting for many players. According to leaks, she has the ability to simply punch through walls, like in an action movie. This saves shotgun shells or impact grenades to create openings.
Where does the information come from? Reddit user Zer0Bytes_ has posted the clip featuring the two new operators in the Rainbow Six subreddit. The video has received over 7,900 upvotes there.
It appears that these images are from the development phase with many placeholders. While they look authentic, the information remains unofficial. It is possible that Ubisoft will change or even remove the displayed content.
However, Zer0Bytes_ has often been correct with his predictions and findings before. Recently, he correctly predicted the “Grand Larceny” event in May, including the start and end dates.
The abilities and gadgets of Scout and Aruni
This is what Scout can do: Scout falls into the category of reconnaissance among attackers. His special gadget consists of cameras that can drill into walls and allow him to spy on enemies. He deploys them from a distance using a device.
In this way, Scout can reconnoiter even hard-to-see areas and warn of dangers before an attack. His gear is expected to look as follows:
- Primary Weapons: SC3000K (Assault Rifle) / MP7 (Submachine Gun)
- Secondary Weapon: 5.7 USG (Pistol)
- Gear: Frag Grenade / Claymore

This is what Aruni can do: The Thai defender Aruni gets two special abilities. Her first gadget creates a laser net at a door, securing the passage with red beams.
When allies pass through the door, the net disappears. Enemies receive 40 damage points according to Zer0Byte_. After two triggers, the net disappears.
Her second ability is an enhanced melee attack. With a prosthetic arm (and presumably through training in Muay Thai), Aruni can punch large holes in walls comparable to those made by shotguns. Her gear is expected to look like this:
- Primary Weapon: P10 Roni (Submachine Gun) / Mk 14 EBR (Marksman Rifle)
- Secondary Weapon: PRB92 (Pistol)
- Gear: Barbed Wire / Bulletproof Camera
Map reworks still for 2020 – plus new gadget?
What kind of gadget is this? In the video, Zer0Byte_ also shows new equipment that is apparently supposed to be available for several operators: the “Secondary Hard Breacher.”
This is a frame with an explosive ring that can cut a hole in surfaces, apparently even in reinforced walls. With the gadget, more operators would have the ability to partially negate reinforced walls.
Recently, Ubisoft buffed an operator that hardly anyone can play, making it reasonable to assign the gadget to some more useful operators.
A new attacker gadget would be plausible, as the proximity alarm for defenders was added in Season 2 of Year 5. Dedicated “Hard Breachers” like Thermite or the Ace introduced in Season 2 would no longer be essential in some situations.
These maps are changing: The two map reworks involve the snowy Chalet and Skyscraper. Both have already been announced in Ubisoft’s official roadmap for Year 5.
There are already two clips of the reworks (via GameStar). It shows how, for example, the stairs in Chalet no longer have empty gaps that could be shot through.
In Skyscraper, several windows seem to be removed and the rooms arranged a bit more clearly to allow better navigation through the map.
When will the new content be available? So far, there is no concrete date for the release of the new seasons. Season 2 has just started on June 16. Seasons usually last about three months. Season three could therefore be released around mid-September, and Season four around mid-December.
Players are particularly looking forward to Season three. There are rumors that one of the oldest and weakest operators will receive a rework there: Tachanka. However, a small group of players is opposing changes to the “Lord”.
