A spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege has been announced for iOS and Android with Rainbow Six Mobile. Here you will find all information about testing options and content.
What kind of game is this? Basically, Rainbow Six Mobile is oriented toward the great role model “Rainbow Six Siege.” The intense tactical shooter was released in 2015, but it remains one of the best online shooters of all time. Even now, it is still widely played and receives new content.
The new Rainbow Six Mobile will come with several elements that fans of the series should recognize:
- Familiar, mobile-adapted maps from Siege will be included
- There are ten operators – 5 attackers, 5 defenders
- Tactical gameplay with various gadgets, destructible environments, and special abilities
However, the developers explain that there will also be differences: “We have invested a lot of effort ‘under the hood’ to adapt the Siege experience for mobile devices. This includes a completely new gameplay control system designed especially for mobile devices, as well as extensive optimization of the user interface and visual presentation in the game” (via Ubisoft).
There is no official release date yet, but initial tests have been announced.
How you can test: In the announcement, the developers explain that the first of several live tests is set to start in the “coming weeks.” A specific date is not yet known.
However, you can already register on the official Ubisoft website to receive information and possibly be invited to the closed alpha.
This is possible with both Android and iOS devices.
Developers reassure Siege fans – Alternative instead of switching
This is what the developers say: The mobile team explains in the announcement that it consists of big Siege fans and that they want to implement the gaming experience as well as possible on mobile.
And even though they share the office in Montreal with the Siege colleagues, it is not the same team. The mobile team is independent and built from the ground up: “Siege fans have nothing to fear: The Siege developer team remains fully staffed and is working with full dedication on its own great game,” say the developers.
We don’t want you to stop playing on PC or console and switch to the mobile version. We know that nothing beats the adrenaline rush of a close match in Siege on the big screen or the precision of a mouse and keyboard. Since we can’t take our monitors everywhere, Rainbow Six Mobile will give you the chance to play your beloved game in short, easily accessible bursts, while also allowing millions of new players to enjoy the R6 experience.
The development team of Rainbow Six Mobile
Therefore, fans of the series should not worry about the “main game”: Currently, no resources are being drawn from it to invest in mobile development.
In principle, several games have already made the leap to mobile. Examples include the LoL spin-off “Wild Rift,” or Fortnite. And in terms of MMORPGs, there are options: The best mobile MMORPGs 2022 for iOS and Android can be found here.
