On the ninth day of the GSA League in Rainbow Six Siege, one of the previously struggling professional teams finally secured a strong victory. In the interview, one of the professionals explained how they achieved the win – and how it works for pretty much every round.
Who are the professionals? Rogue is one of the teams of the GSA League that are already playing in the Pro League of Rainbow Six Siege. They recently won the Pro League Season 11 in Europe and are currently competing in both the GSA and the EU League.
Yesterday, on July 9, they faced the newcomer FACT Gaming for the second time in the second half. In their first encounter a few weeks ago, FACT crushed Rogue with a remarkable comeback.
FACT’s motto back then was: “Guys, don’t worry, we’ll just push them aside.” This time, however, it clearly did not work, as Rogue won the match with a strong 7:2. In the subsequent interview, the German Rogue player Lukas “korey” Zwingmann reveals how they managed to do it.
Rogue reveals the trick to victory
This is how the match unfolded: The encounter started quite evenly, even favoring FACT Gaming, who took the lead twice. As korey later explains, this is because Rogue intentionally played more aggressively at the beginning to intimidate the newcomers – which did not work.
Rogue had to quickly adjust their tactics and managed to catch up with both of FACT’s leads in the next round. Instead of being aggressive against their opponents, Rogue responded dynamically and played more safely instead of offensively.
The tactic seems to work well, as the professionals commit no more mistakes from here on and win all rounds. Starting from round 4, the victory march begins until the final score of 7:2 for Rogue.
How exactly did Rogue win? korey talks in the interview after the match about the mistake FACT made: They did not utilize their successes. More specifically, with the area they had taken.
Whenever FACT managed to secure an area, they either did not expand from there or were surprised by Rogue.
The professionals played in such a way that they either simply waited (as defenders) because FACT had not applied enough pressure, or by cutting through the opposing team to flank the remaining operators or defuse the bomb.
Therefore, FACT’s biggest problem was that they did not capitalize on their potential and strong situations.
How can I use these tips? korey’s statements can almost universally be applied to every match in Rainbow Six. What he means by taking space is that you should secure certain areas on the maps.
This applies both as attackers and defenders. Coordinate with your team to secure and hold specific entrances and rooms, so you can rely on not encountering enemies from the corresponding directions.
React to what the opponent is doing. If they try to undermine the positions you’ve occupied, instead bolster the areas they will now approach from. Reconnaissance using drones, cameras, and gadgets, as well as good communication and teamwork, are key.
This basic tactic is the key to victory in any round. It only becomes problematic when the opponent knows this too – then it depends on who can better secure their area and act from there.
The results of match day 9
This is how the match day went: You can certainly learn the most from Rogue’s game against FACT. However, all matches of the ninth match day were quite clear victories – stronger than on any previous match day:
- DIVIZON 7:0 mYinsanity
- Rogue 7:2 FACT Gaming
- WarKidz 2:7 Team Secret
- Turtle eSport 1:7 G2 Esports
All professional teams showed on this day why they are professionals. This could partly be due to the fact that they now have to prepare for the EU League matches simultaneously and are therefore generally training harder.
