The European guild Method has finally succeeded: Jaina Proudmoore has been defeated in the mythic mode of the Battle of Dazar’alor. For one of the players of the guild, the victory means uninstalling World of Warcraft.
The streamer and hardcore raider Spookie, who is a demon hunter player for Method, has uninstalled WoW. After the World-First Kill on Jaina by Method on Tuesday, February 5th, he quickly clicked the loot chest and then said goodbye to WoW.
The clip is the second most-watched clip of the World-First Kill. (As of February 6, 2019 at 20:50) It is only surpassed by the actual kill clip from the Method channel.
The Strange Reaction to the First Kill
Is Spookie really quitting? According to some replies under Spookie’s tweet, in which he linked his clip, some fans confirm that he genuinely wants to quit. He did not uninstall WoW just “for the meme.”
Also on reddit the reaction has gained wide attention. The user BBush1414 says:
He said after they killed Jaina, he would quit the game. It is too tempting to press the “play” button when the game is still installed. So he uninstalled it.
Method seems to have lost one of their demon hunters.
Why is Spookie quitting? There has been no official statement regarding the exact reasons. Some reddit users suspect that Spookie was dissatisfied with the design of the raids and the now required grind of WoW.
It is also possible that the battle against Jaina simply took too much toll. A change to Jaina ultimately led to Method having a harder time defeating her.
Despite all difficulties, Method has made good profit from it. For Spookie, however, this still means the temporary end of his career at the best guild in the world.
What’s Next?
After Method defeated Jaina as the first guild in the world, they even defeated the opponent again today, on February 6th, 2019 – as “World Second.” But the story is not over yet.
With Patch 8.1.5, the story of WoW continues. A cutscene between Baine and Sylvanas is already known from it.
The next raid will be the “Crucible of Storms,” a raid with only two bosses, which Method will likely face again.
