In Pokémon GO the announced changes regarding the raids are now available. However, trainers have wished for the introduction of a start button in this context. Has Niantic missed this opportunity?
What happened? As Niantic announced yesterday on their website, there is now an update for the raids (via pokemongolive.com). In the past, dataminers have reported about new features regarding raid successes and the introduction of a raid stadium. Now these changes are available in the game.
What changes are there after the raid update?
Especially visually, new features can be noticed. The arena now looks more realistic during battles. Additionally, at the end of the raids, trainers will see a kind of leaderboard consisting of several categories. These new raid successes in Pokémon GO show which of the participating trainers excelled in which category during the raid.
If you receive one of the awards at the end of the raid, you will also get the new raid medal in Pokémon GO. You can level this up to the platinum medal with the help of additional raid successes.
Did Niantic forget a raid change?
Even though the feedback from the community on reddit about the new raid update is mostly positive and trainers appreciate the new raid medal, they still miss an important change (via reddit.com). Pokémon GO players have been wishing for a “Go button” in the raids for several years.
What is a “Go button”? To prepare for the raid, Pokémon GO allows trainers a waiting period of 120 seconds. This is the same for all raids, regardless of their difficulty level. During this time, players are in the lobby of the arena eagerly waiting for the raid to start.
Especially in simple raids that can also be completed alone, many trainers find it annoying that they have to wait so long for the start of the battle. Therefore, they advocate the introduction of a “Go button”. This button could be activated by the trainer as soon as they are ready for battle, thus significantly reducing the waiting time.

Many players, like Twitter user Mika, have therefore hoped that Niantic would take the opportunity of the new raid updates to finally integrate such a button into the game (via twitter.com). Unfortunately, this did not happen.
User Danny, among others, shares their disappointment with the community and writes: “But still no ‘Go button’ to just jump into the raid instead of waiting 2 minutes”. They cannot understand how trainers need so much time to prepare for simple raids and ask Niantic to finally listen to the community’s wishes (via twitter.com).
