In Red Dead Redemption 2 there is a lot to discover. However, the community is still struggling with many things. There are several puzzles that seemingly no one can solve.
What is it about? Since October 2018, players have been able to play Rockstar’s Western adventure Red Dead Redemption 2. In the vast world, there are secrets and puzzles that no one seems to understand or solve. Where is the legendary Channel Catfish? What is the mysterious girl doing at Emerald Ranch? And who is Gavin, anyway?
Where and who is Gavin?
The puzzle: A man named Nigel can be found running around in various locations. He is desperately looking for his friend Gavin, who seems to have left him.
That is the problem: Players assume they are supposed to help Nigel find Gavin. But they simply can’t find him. It is known that Gavin is British. If you kill Nigel, you find a note with clues. However, a direct location has not yet been determined.
The mysterious girl and the Emerald Ranch
The puzzle: At Emerald Ranch, you find a puzzle. In a house, visible behind a window, there is a girl or a young woman. What is particularly strange is that she comes to the window multiple times a day and stares outside. The house she is in is locked and guarded. Blood can also be found there.
That is the problem: There are already proposed solutions regarding who the girl might be. However, why she does not leave the house and what this mysterious ranch is about remains unclear.
Princess Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister of Luxembourg
The puzzle: Players will first become aware of the princess through a newspaper article or a wanted poster. The young woman has been missing for 15 years. Her family supposedly sailed from Europe to America. She disappeared when she was five years old. That was 15 years ago. There is a $100 reward for delivering her safely to a sheriff.
That is the problem: No one has found the princess so far. There are strong clues leading players to Van Horn. There, you can find pieces of luggage bearing the initials IKZ (Isabeau Katharina Zinsmeister). But then the trail ends.
Players thought that the princess might be the girl from Emerald Ranch, but the community is confident that they are two different women. It seems there is no connection.
The legendary Channel Catfish
The puzzle: If you catch all 13 legendary fish and send them to Gill, you will go on a fishing trip with him to find the Channel Catfish. However, this mission fails. On the map of Red Dead Redemption 2, you can see the Channel Catfish afterwards. It is supposed to be normally found in Rio Bravo. But where is the legendary version?
That is the problem: Players have immersed many hours into exploring the world of RDR 2 since its release in October. However, no one has been able to catch the legendary Channel Catfish so far. One player writes on Reddit that he camped at the spot where the legendary fish was supposed to appear for months. But the catfish could not be found. Now there is a debate about whether the fish is even catchable or if Rockstar is just having fun with this.

Aztec writing in Blackwater
The puzzle: After you protect a man in an alley near the Blackwater saloon from a robbery, you can see mysterious writings on the wall. The script resembles Aztec symbols. The symbols are arranged in a line next to each other.
That is the problem: Upon closer inspection, you find the writing spread throughout the town. But what it means has yet to be fully determined. Not fully yet means that clever minds have translated the symbols, but they cannot make sense of the resulting sentence.
On Reddit, user alexxerth writes that he was able to translate the symbol code into numbers and then encode those into letters. The result is the sentence “Blessed are the peace makers ayauhteotl”. Ayauhtéotl is a character from the Red Dead Redemption DLC Undead Nightmare. So the code has been deciphered. The message behind it, however, remains unclear.
The giant behind the rock – Bigfoot?
The puzzle: Players who have analyzed over 30 animals in Red Dead Redemption 2 unlock a special feature. Following a trail, you find a giant hiding behind rocks. The giant appears friendly but lonely. You can talk to him a bit, but he does not show himself. He says he prefers to live alone. If he were to show himself, people would kill him.
That is the problem: If you come back to the rock after a few days, the giant talks about different topics. However, the giant still does not show himself, and no one knows yet whether and how to meet him.
Players suspect that this encounter is with Bigfoot. This is a theme in Rockstar games, as is the case with GTA 5.
