Surprisingly, Bungie announces that you will lose a portion of your already completed bounties in Destiny 2. We are examining why Guardians are currently collecting bounties and looking at the impact of the upcoming change.
What are bounties in Destiny 2: NPCs, like Vanguard Commander Zavala or the shady Spider, give you Guardians various tasks. Things like “Eliminate 100 enemies” or “Complete three strikes” are on the to-do list. Upon completion, these optional tasks (English: Bounty) reward you with experience, Glimmer, or materials.
Why have many Guardians collected bounties now? In preparation for Shadowkeep, some Guardians have invested their time in completing various bounties. However, these bounties are not redeemed by the Guardians, but remain in the inventory. Only in the new Season 8, which starts simultaneously with Shadowkeep, should they be redeemed.
Famous YouTubers like Datto recommend in their preparation guides: hoard bounties and use them as experience point storage.
However, hoarding some bounties was in vain.
What is Bungie doing? In the current Twab, Bungie’s weekly blog post, it was announced that you will lose some completed bounties. This “reset” will happen on Monday night, so tomorrow! Then Destiny 2 will be offline for a day and return with Shadowkeep on Tuesday.
Bungie therefore recommends that you redeem the bounties before Monday since there will be a reset of the bounties then.
These bounties are affected by the reset:
- Crucible bounties
- Iron Banner bounties
- Gambit bounties
- Vanguard bounties
All other bounties are said by Bungie to still be redeemable in Shadowkeep. This includes, among other things:
- Eververse bounties
- Gunsmith bounties
- Clan bounties

How are Guardians reacting to this?
Some Guardians wanted to use the hard-earned bounties to level the new artifact and gain a small advantage in Season 8.
On reddit, numerous opinions on the last-minute changes can be read:
- While some furiously say, “I can’t express how much I HATE this change!”,
- others calmly respond, “I guess I just won’t collect Crucible/Gambit/Vanguard bounties.”
On our site Mein-MMO, you discuss the topic of bounties from different perspectives:
- Victor thinks: “It would be cool if you could put together a little report on how each Guardian collected bounties for Shadowkeep and 1-2 days ago came the message: “Gotcha, they’re all getting deleted” – what we have done here.
- Pueschi says: “I haven’t collected bounties for a long time… In the end, it hasn’t paid off since D1, because Bungie (rightfully) puts the brakes on almost all fast leveling opportunities.”
In response to the announcement that Destiny 2 will be offline for a day, a Twitter user cheekily remarked that it takes 24 hours to eradicate all the completed bounties. The humorous post receives a lot of support.

Appropriate inventory cleaning or was your hard work in vain? What do you think about the short-term changes?
