At Destiny 2, there was a Community Summit between the elite and the developer. It is now speculated that Bungie wants to save the PvP. On Twitter, there is talk of a “rosy future.”
This meeting is about: Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, invited to a “Community Summit” on March 31. The meeting took place behind closed doors – and digitally. Members from the community were invited to share their opinions with Bungie and find solutions to the most pressing issues facing the Guardians together with the developers.
The community is represented by Destiny celebrities. Twitch streamers, content creators, and YouTubers are supposed to lend their voices to the Guardians. The attendees are not allowed to speak about the meeting’s contents, but some can’t completely refrain from dropping small hints on Twitter and other platforms.
In the past, participants wore gags but couldn’t restrain their excitement.
“They really listen… and do something” – that’s what Guardians wanted to hear
We don’t know much concrete due to the confidentiality agreements. However, the statements from the streamers on Twitter give the community hope.
Is the PvP going to be saved? It is striking at the recent secret meeting that the PvP professionals who were invited are expressing themselves very positively on Twitter. This suggests that the damaged PvP was the focus of this summit.
GernaderJake (GJake), a streamer who was addicted to the Trials, has previously been very critical about the state of the PvP endgame. He doubted even the future of Destiny 2. After the recent meeting, his words were much more optimistic:
At first, GJake was very pleased to be able to participate in the secret meeting. Like other participants before him, he speaks positively about being able to not only present suggestions and ideas to Bungie but also to discuss them. He then assures his followers that the future looks rosy. They should trust him on that.
The PvP expert CoolGuy, whose YouTube videos we cite regularly for weapon tests on MeinMMO, was also present at the summit:
CoolGuy can’t talk about specifics either (and isn’t allowed to). According to him, however, Destiny 2 is heading in the right direction. And Bungie is “really listening” – the community already knows this quote. What is pleasing is what CoolGuy continues to say: “And they are doing something. They are doing a lot.”
This is the criticism: Bungie is often accused of listening attentively and knowing what the community wants. But then Bungie doesn’t act or comes up with a Plan C that makes everything worse.
It remains to be seen what the announced “rosy future” will look like and when it will arrive. Other community members were also present and speak positively about the secret meeting. Whether it is really due to the conversations with Bungie or the first large honor of meeting the developer of the game that essentially earns their livelihood, we cannot say at this moment.

One fact is that such summits in the past have had a good influence on Destiny 2. And especially the Crucible could use some love.
The Crucible: the troubled child of Destiny 2
This is the state of the PvP: In Destiny 2, the Guardians who primarily choose the Crucible for their evenings feel abandoned for over a year now. The PvP mode hasn’t seen a new map in a long time – many disappeared with Beyond Light. Season 13 brought new Trials loot, but that alone is only a temporary solution.
Since the end of 2020, the new Stasis abilities have completely terrorized the balance. For long periods, Bungie didn’t say a word about the PvP; many players felt like second-class Guardians and revolted: Players are now rebelling against the PvP in Destiny 2 – Why?.
Only recently, Bungie broke its silence and took a stance on the PvP. It followed with a large patch that was supposed to align Stasis with the other classes. At the same time, they announced that they were working on cheaters, unfair advantages, and more balance.
What do you think was discussed at the Community Summit? Do you really think Bungie wants to save the PvP now? Or are you one of the Guardians who prefer to stay in PvE and say that the Crucible only brings problems? Let us know in the comments.
