A forthcoming essence for the Heart of Azeroth in WoW is causing a stir. PvP fans will receive another talent for PvE.
With Patch 8.2 Azsharas Aufstieg, players of World of Warcraft will get a new system to individualize their characters a bit more. The Heart of Azeroth will be expanded with an essence system. Essences can be obtained from various sources, such as reputation factions, grind tasks, or PvP. The PvP essence is particularly exciting, as it has been revealed with a strong effect. It allows players to gain an additional PvP talent, which will even be active in PvE!
What are the essences? Essences can be embedded in the Heart of Azeroth and provide additional effects, such as new abilities or strong passive bonuses. One of these bonuses comes from the PvP essence “Conflict and Strife.” How exactly to obtain it is still unclear. In any case, it will likely involve PvP.
The talents are fixed: Which talents are available for each class and specialization is already predetermined in the essence. There is no free choice. Blizzard will determine which talent is used for each specialization. A similar system was also used in Legion with the legendary rings that granted additional talents.
Why is there no selection? Since PvP talents have extremely different effects, it would lead to significant balance issues between the classes. While some classes primarily have “useful” talents that enhance their survivability, classes like the Warlock have talents that can increase the damage of certain spells by up to 65%. This would cause chaos in PvE balance.
Talents are not final yet: Blizzard has already announced that the talents currently unlocked by the essence are not final. Some talents will still be changed or need to be adjusted to function correctly in PvE situations. For example, a talent that drastically reduces healing received from enemies would be too powerful against PvE raid bosses. This needs further fine-tuning.
When will the essence be available? The new essence system will be unlocked for players in Patch 8.2 starting at level 50 of the Heart of Azeroth. It might be worthwhile to level up the Heart of Azeroth to level 50 now to be fully prepared for the release of the patch.
A release date for Patch 8.2 Azsharas Aufstieg has not yet been announced. However, it is expected within the next few weeks.
