MMOs thrive on having as many players as possible, and to achieve that, they offer their fans various types of content. This content can usually be roughly divided into two main areas: PvP and PvE.
What players like about PvE: In PvE (Player versus Environment) usually refers to the content where the player faces the challenges of the game alone or in a group.
Classically, this includes endgame monster hunting in the open world, dungeons, and raids at various difficulty levels and similar activities. Especially the often spectacularly staged boss fights have become essential in many modern MMORPGs.
They provide epic moments when the boss finally goes down after many attempts and give players a strong sense of cooperation and belonging as a team. Of course, a big reward awaits at the end in the form of cool gear or stylish cosmetic items like mounts.
What players like about PvP: In PvP (Player versus Player), on the other hand, it is about competing with other players. This includes everything where you can beat each other up: Whether in an arena, in the open world, or during epic sieges and in the battle for control over areas.
PvP fans enjoy the competitive aspect and the fact that they have real people as opponents. No matter how smart a monster AI can be in an MMORPG, it does not provide the same challenge as an experienced PvP player.
Unrestricted PvP in the open world also offers excitement, as you never know what awaits you behind the next bush. You always have to be on your guard because carelessness leads to death.
