With the last update, a new bug has sneaked into Destiny 2 among the features and fixes. The matchmaking in PvP has not been functioning as intended since then. This has provoked mixed feelings, but some players are having more fun than ever.

The July update 1.2.3 changed the PvP quickplay to the 6vs6 format as the new standard. However, along with the introduction of this feature and numerous other tweaks to the Crucible, a new bug has also emerged. The Skill-Based Matchmaking is not working.
Broken PvP is fun for many – Bungie is taking its time to fix it
Bungie confirms the problem: As community manager dmg04 stated in the official Bungie forum, both skill ranking and connection quality are not accurately considered during the quickplay matchmaking.
This results in the matchmaking happening very quickly, but with lagging during gameplay sometimes becoming a problem. This also means that total beginners can be matched against top players. However, while this can lead to frustration for some, it makes the Crucible more enjoyable for many players than ever before.
Players have mixed feelings, but some are having fun: Numerous players are complaining that they are now experiencing more often devastating losses in quickplay and are simply being overwhelmed. They are demanding a quick solution.
However, there are also many fans who claim to be having more fun in the Crucible than ever. Comments and posts on various platforms even ask Bungie not to fix the broken matchmaking – including well-known Destiny streamer Unknown Player.
Others suggest waiting for a while and seeing how quickplay develops as a result. This seems to be the approach Bungie is also taking.
No immediate fix: Bungie has already addressed the issue, but as PvP lead Derek Carroll mentioned, they will take their time with the fix. The studio does not want to act immediately, but rather observe the development of the quickplay list first and then develop a corresponding solution. They will also inform the community about how this solution will look.
What experiences have you had in the Crucible since the last update? What do you think of the current state of quickplay?
