Odin: Valhalla Rising is a new MMORPG for PC and Mobile. The game is graphically beautiful. Now it is confirmed that the MMORPG is set to release in the first half of 2021 in Korea – and possibly quickly here as well.
What kind of game is this? Odin: Valhalla Rising is an MMORPG inspired by Norse mythology:
- As you will encounter well-known figures like Odin, Freyja, or Thor.
- Iconic words such as the tree Yggdrasil, Midgard, and Niflheim are also expected to be present in the open world.
The title was first mentioned in October 2019 and caught attention back then with its good graphics, leading to funding from Kakao Games, the publisher of Black Desert, and WeMade, the developer of the “Legend of Mir” series.
The game is being developed in the Unreal Engine 4, which is also expected to be used for Blade & Soul. While the MMORPG was originally developed as a AAA game for smartphones, a PC version is also expected. This shouldn’t be an issue from a graphics perspective.
When will the MMORPG be released? According to the Korean website Inven, the publisher Kakao Games, which also distributes the game here in the West, has announced the release of Odin: Valhalla Rising for the first half of 2021. Initially, however, only in Korea.
However, a timely release in the West seems likely. Recently, many mobile titles from Korea have been released almost simultaneously worldwide.
4 classes that are not so Nordic
What makes the MMORPG special? There aren’t too many details about Odin: Valhalla Rising yet. So far we know that:
- There are four different classes: Warrior, Rogue, Priest, and Sorceress.
- The game is based on a Holy Trinity.
- There will be various movement options such as swimming and climbing.
- The open world is said to avoid loading screens.
- There will be mounts that can also fly.
- PvP battles are expected to play an important role.
While the MMORPG has graphically impressed many of our readers, there is already criticism regarding the choice and appearance of the classes. They do not resemble Norse mythology at all and appear rather Asian in design. Additionally, there is gender locking, which many players in the West dislike.
Another interesting MMORPG that is set to be released for PC, consoles, and mobile is The Ragnarök. It features an action-packed combat system reminiscent of God of War. We from MeinMMO have already introduced the title in detail.
