Almost every MMORPG features a chat function with various channels, including a public one. But do you even use them?
Communication with other players is a part of MMORPGs, and you can’t imagine the chats from the games being absent. Since the earliest beginnings of the genre, public, private, trade, and guild chats have been an integral part of the player experience in these multiplayer games.
In the large public chat, also called “global”, all players can write in it, usually regardless of where they are in the game world. It is often the most open and accessible type of chat in MMORPGs.
At the same time, it also means that a lot of people can write at the same time. Different MMORPGs have different effects:
- Some global chats are so full that it’s impossible to keep up with the conversations.
- Others are infamous for being incredibly toxic
- Still others are completely dead, and most attempts to start a conversation are in vain.
Different players also have different preferences for when, how, and with whom they interact in the game. While some enjoy taking advantage of the global chat, others are not very keen on it.
And what about you?
