The new update transforms PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) . A new feature comes with weapon attachments. How to use it correctly? And what else is included in the 10GB update?
For PUBG players, a new update has been available for download since the morning of May 3rd. The update is a whopping 10 GB on Steam and brings some new weapon attachments into the game. The developers have also significantly adjusted the weapon balance, introduced a new car, and added map selection.
What does the new update bring?
The contents of PUBG are constantly changing to optimize the game. This is done based on fan feedback and internal analyses. With update #12, as the developers call it, the following things change:
- New and improved weapon attachments – New grips and sights now change the shooting characteristics of many weapons
- SLR – A new sniper rifle with a caliber of 7.62mm
- Map selection – You now select a specific map before a match or can activate random selection
- Weapon balance – The damage and shooting characteristics such as recoil have been adjusted for many weapons
- Mirado – The new muscle car in PUBG that you can find on the Miramar map and has room for up to 4 players

Is the new map already in the game? The Savage Map is not part of this update. This new map is significantly smaller than Miramar or Erangel. It is still under development and will be unlocked in the game at a later time.
How do balance changes and attachments affect gameplay?
How were the weapons balanced? The new PUBG update buffs the damage of all pistols, LMGs, most SMGs, and a few other guns. The effectiveness of assault rifles has been slightly reduced overall.
What does the new balance affect? The developers’ plan is for players to choose weapons based on the situation. If an enemy is at short or medium range, submachine guns or shotguns are effective. Additionally, pistols should not just be last-resort options but actually make an impact in the game. You can find the complete patch notes with the weapon adjustments here.
The new weapon improvements have already caught the attention of YouTubers, with recordings of their behavior while spraying. On the channel of WackyJacky101, you can find a video about the new grips.
- What do the new grips change?
- Thumb Grip: This grip significantly reduces the vertical recoil. As a result, the weapon pulls less upward, but more to the sides after the first 8 shots.
- Half Grip: With this grip, horizontal drifting of the weapon is almost nonexistent.
- Lightweight Grip: This creates such strong recoil that, according to WackyJacky, it does not work well with any assault rifle.
Have you already tried the new content of the PUBG update? Do you think PUBG is now ready for a 2-million-dollar tournament?
