Shotguns in PUBG – like in any shooter – are the kings of close combat. Nothing clears a room full of enemies faster than a few rounds from the good old shotgun! However, shotguns have the disadvantage that their ranges are miserable, magazine sizes are poor, and reload speeds are atrocious!
Rank 1 – S12K
The absolute best shotgun in the game is the S12K, the PUBG equivalent of the famous Russian shotgun Saiga-12K.
- Unimportant fact: This shotgun is named after an adorable Russian steppe antelope.
- Important fact: The S12K is a semi-automatic shotgun.
Thanks to the high rate of fire, the best shotgun in PUBG blasts out massive amounts of shot and can wipe whole rooms clean! Also cool: thanks to the practical magazine, you don’t have to load each round individually, allowing for faster reloads.

Rank 2 – S1897
This venerable shotgun is based on the “Winchester Model 1897” and was officially used by all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces until the Gulf War. The weapon has a 5-round magazine and delivers a hefty punch. But be careful not to waste a shot, as the fire rate is quite low.
Additionally, you have to load each shot individually, which can take a long time. Keep in mind that you can shoot further with the S1897 than with most other shotguns, especially if you have a choke attached.

Rank 3 – S686
The double-barrel S686 is more of a sporting device than a weapon, as it is based on the Beretta 686 – a shotgun designed for clay pigeon shooting. Nevertheless, the shotgun inflicts significant damage and both barrels can be fired quickly. However, once you fire, you need to reload.
Therefore, the S686 is only suitable against single targets at close range. As a typical shotgun, the S686 has a very low range. But especially at the beginning of the game, you can quickly decimate the competition in house combat with a well-placed shotgun blast.
