In PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds the UI has been kept minimal and shows you only a minimum of information. But should it stay this way? Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene has created a survey and wants to know how you would like the user interface in PUBG in the future.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds truly does not have an extensive UI. You only see how many players are still alive, how much ammunition you have in the currently active weapon, a compass, your health, and a sprinting indicator. That’s it! Those who want to see, for example, how many grenades, medkits or other ammunition are still available, have to awkwardly open the inventory and check.
But is this minimal user interface what the players really want?
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – How do you want your user interface in the future?
The current user interface aims for maximum immersion in the game world as hardly any distracting UI elements detract from the gameplay. Moreover, the frantic look into the inventory heightens the tension. After all, a nasty player could come from behind at any moment and take you out while you are rummaging through your bags. Therefore, players who can remember exactly what they have just collected and what they have already used are at an advantage. The current UI is known as “Option B“.
On the other hand, a larger interface would certainly make sense. You would have all information about grenades and healing equipment readily accessible at a glance. This would also be sensible, especially if one considers PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as a competitive multiplayer shooter. Additionally, such a UI would be more user-friendly for inexperienced players. This UI version is referred to as “Option A“.
So that the developers do not overlook the wishes of the community in the future, Brendan Greene now wants to know from you which version you prefer. The traditional UI Option B or the new, clearer interface of Option A.
