PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is finally coming to PlayStation 4. The release date for PS4 is on December 7th. There will be a range of exclusive skins from PS4 game classics like Uncharted.
The battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is launching almost a year after the Xbox release for PlayStation 4. After there were initial hints, an official release date is now known.
When will PUBG come to PS4? The PlayStation version of PUBG is set to release on December 7, 2018. Pre-orders will be available starting November 13.
Why is it coming to PS4 only now? According to the developers, the PS4 version has been in development since the beginning of the year. They wanted to wait and see how the Xbox version performed and once that was settled, the focus shifted to PS4.
And why is it really coming to PS4 only now? Bluehole seems to have made a deal with Microsoft to delay the announcement of the PS4 port.
Though this is just speculation. It seems likely that they promised Microsoft to be console exclusive on Xbox One for about a year – and during that time not to discuss a PS4 port.
This explains the odd dance that Bluehole has been doing since 2017:
How much will PUBG cost on PS4? Like the Xbox and PC versions, PUBG on PS4 will cost $29.99. The Euro price should be identical.
Unique Skins for PS4
What is different about the PS4 version? As a small bonus, pre-orders on PlayStation 4 will receive unique skins. These include:
- a skin of Nathan Drake from Uncharted,
- Ellie’s backpack from The Last of Us,
- a special avatar,
- a Miramar console theme
- and a PlayStation-themed parachute.

What the community says: While some PS4 players are certainly looking forward to PUBG, the reactions are currently rather lukewarm. Many players believe they would have been overjoyed 18 months ago.
But now they are happy with Fortnite or Black Ops 4 and do not need PUBG to experience battle royale fun.
