PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has only been on the market for four months and regularly sets new records in terms of sold copies and concurrent players. The Battle Royale shooter has already sold more than 5.1 million copies and leads the Steam charts. The release on PS4 and Xbox One is still pending.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds celebrates one success after another. Recently, it was announced that it has surpassed GTA 5 in concurrent players with 382,561 gamers at the same time.
Even the actor and Overwatch fan Terry Crews now prefers playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds over Blizzard’s hero shooter.
By now, there are likely even more players in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, as the game has reached a new milestone in sales.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – More players than ever before!
According to the current Steam charts, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has so far been sold more than 5.1 million times. The figures have not yet been confirmed by the developer Bluehole, but they are sourced, according to VG247, directly from the Steam charts and should therefore be accurate.
This great success is particularly impressive as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still in Early Access and is far from finished. The game is set to release as a full version at the end of the year and will receive many updates until then.
With the release at the end of 2017, PUBG will also be available for Xbox One and probably a bit later for the PS4.
Planned new features include:
- a zombie mode
- new maps
- a feature for vaulting over obstacles
- and the mandatory fixes for server lags. Such delays and stuttering have been disrupting the gameplay since the start of Early Access. Sometimes they even lead to bizarre situations like a mass brawl among 100 unarmed players.
