In PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) a lot has happened in recent months. New content and the overhaul of the original map “Erangel” are beneficial to the game. We show you how the mood is.
What has changed in PUBG? Since its release in March 2017, a lot has changed in the game. New maps like the desert map Miramar, the small playground Sanhok or the snow area Vikendi are now included.
With the big “Fix PUBG” campaign, performance issues like FPS drops and lags were tackled. The lack of performance was often a sticking point in PUBG that players criticized.
Many competitors in the battle royale genre have emerged, including Ring of Elysium, which brings snowboards and rescue helicopters into battle, or Apex Legends, which combines fast gameplay with the use of legends as characters.
But PUBG is holding its ground. A popular YouTuber and shooter expert says, “PUBG is still the king of battle royale.” We look at the recent changes.
Revamp of Erangel – Is it worth it for you?
Here was the problem: Erangel was the first map where players could let loose in PUBG. The map was already finished before the developers added the vaulting and climbing. Now you can pull yourself up on walls. But Erangel was not designed for this. The new features could hardly be utilized there.
Here is the solution: To adapt the outdated Erangel map to the new features, there was a major overhaul. This is what the new Erangel map in PUBG now looks like. There are more villages, fresh graphics, and more objects to take cover behind.
Is it worth it? If you were dissatisfied with the old Erangel map, you should check it out now. At least on PC, there is already quite a bit of feedback; the update is still pending on PS4.
New villages and objects are on the map, providing cover on the once vast, empty fields of Erangel. On Reddit, a player writes:
“Wow, I am overwhelmed by these additions. These random objects will balance some end zones much more. I was a bit worried about the change in the blue zone, but since there are generally more places for cover, rotations in the mid and end game will be easier. That should work well.”
How many players does PUBG have? On PC, the numbers of average PUBG players range between 350,000 and 360,000. They were once much higher, but are currently quite stable.
You should play PUBG if… you stopped because of the old Erangel map. The new gameplay is praised by players, the map now offers more tactical options and has not lost its charm. Additionally, the performance of the game has further improved.
If you are looking for a tactical battle royale shooter that is not as colorful as Fortnite and not as fast as Apex Legends, you are still well served with PUBG. After the recent changes, it is worth checking out the game.
PUBG still stands out with its game and gunplay and its tactical approach in battle royale.
New gameplay from PUBG: YouTuber jackfrags is known for his expertise in shooters like PUBG, Battlefield V, or Modern Warfare. In one of his latest videos, he says PUBG is still the king in battle royale.
“PUBG feels good. When it works, it works very well and is, in my opinion, still the best battle royale on the market.”
What about you currently? Are you playing PUBG and can you recommend it to others in its current state?
