A release date for a PS4 version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still up in the air, although players have been able to enjoy the multiplayer game on other platforms for some time now. The main question: When will PUBG finally come to the PS4? An interview with the creator hints at how long it might still take.
This is the current status: Fans of the battle royale shooter PUBG can already actively play the game on PC, Xbox One, and even on mobile devices. Playstation players have not yet been able to enjoy PUBG and continue to hope for a timely PS4 release. Until then, they only have Fortnite as an alternative.
What has happened so far: There have been back and forth in the past. There were rumors that Microsoft aimed to keep PUBG off the PS4 long-term. So far, the developers have made no concrete statements regarding a PS4 port, only that PUBG will remain exclusive to Xbox for a while longer.

During a recent interview with the site Trusted Reviews, Brendan Greene – that is, PlayerUnknown himself – shared some thoughts on this matter. However, the hopes of many PS4 players that the head himself could finally provide some information about the title’s future on the PS4 unfortunately did not come true.
What does the creator say about a PS4 release of PUBG? While Greene generally shows openness towards a release of the battle royale shooter on other platforms, he remains tight-lipped. He did not mention concrete details about a PS4 version, but:
According to him, you never know where the journey could lead in the future. Currently, they are focused on finishing the work on the PC and Xbox One versions of the game.
How long might it still take for PUBG to appear on the PS4? On the Xbox One, Bluehole is actively working to finish the version 1.0 that has already been achieved on PC. PUBG is still in Early Access on Microsoft’s console, so it will take several more months until they finish version 1.0. This could simultaneously mean that a PS4 release for PUBG could at the earliest be expected by the end of the year.
Fans of the battle royale shooter will therefore have to continue exercising patience if they want to experience PUBG on a PlayStation 4.
