Event modes are now being activated in PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds). It seems they are following the good example of Fortnite.
On Steam, PUBG developers explained that there will soon be more variety in the battle royale shooter. With the event mode, Bluehole is unlocking time-limited events. During these events, gameplay content such as the drop chance of specific weapons will be altered. But this is just the beginning.

The event mode is described as a pre-made custom game, with settings changing from event to event. They want to try new things and change the parameters for content relevant to gameplay.
The goal is to provide new experiences for players that they cannot find in regular public games.
However, the event mode should not just represent custom games, but offers content, most of which is only available in the game for a limited time.
The first edition of the event mode will be kept relatively simple – they want to see how it all goes.
- The first event is already starting on the test servers
- Players can now form 8-player squads (instead of 4-player squads)
- and the drop chance for rifles is double the usual
- To achieve stable matchmaking, the first mode is only available in TPP and on the Erangel map
- So far, there is no ranking for the event mode, but you will receive BP at the end of the round.
- In the next event, the signal pistol is expected to play a major role.
In comparison to Fortnite, where players currently have shorter round times, a higher chest and ammunition spawn in the Blitzschnell mode and practically swim in building materials, the changes in PUBG are really still small.
When will the event mode hit the live servers? PUBG is currently thoroughly testing the current build for issues. If everything goes smoothly, the patch will soon™ be available on the live servers.
