In PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) you can now find a hidden cave with valuable treasures. However, it’s not well-received everywhere.
What kind of cave is this? Hidden in the depths of the new winter map Vikendi, there is a Loot Cave. PUBG included this cave in the latest update, burying it under rocks that players must first remove. Inside, there is a lot of powerful stuff like weapons and level-3 armor stored in open supply drops.
Normally, you find such strong equipment only later in the game. Now, by visiting this hideout, you can be totally “op” right from the start. But the cave provides much less fun than you might expect.
How do you get into the cave? The cave is located in the northeast of the Vikendi map, west of Peshkova. PUBG released a teaser video revealing the entrances and the general location of the cave.
There are three entrances blocked by stones. To get in, you either have to use a grenade or destroy the stones by driving a car against them. Or you can do what most do: just wait nearby until another player does the work for you and opens an entrance.
What is the problem with the Loot Cave in PUBG? Players criticize the purpose of this feature. Many rush directly to the cave’s location at the start of a match. There, dozens of players wait.
- Sure, it’s cool to have fat weapons and gear from the very beginning. But those who don’t go to the cave have a big disadvantage right away.
- The mid-game becomes extremely sluggish because so many people die straight away and there’s hardly anything happening in the matches afterward.
- The cave takes away action from other spots because many prefer to travel to the cave.
What are players saying about it? Many threads on Reddit discuss this topic. A popular post is titled “The Vikendi Loot Cave Ruins the Map”. The creator, bobotriate, writes:
“If you don’t go there, you encounter people later in the game who were [in the cave], and you have a big disadvantage. This motivates players to land there right after jumping from the plane, but most die. And then the mid-game is incredibly boring for everyone else because the map is empty. Honestly, who thought this was a good idea?”
Player ForboJack replies: “I just watched ChocoTaco. He got a motorcycle, went into the cave, grabbed level-3 gear, MK14, and AWM, and then killed players in the city who were armed with Uzis. It’s funny to watch but really ridiculous … WTF Bluehole?”
Player headturn3r initially thought it was a joke: “I thought that was just a joke for the test servers that shouldn’t go to the live servers…?”
Often, criticism arises against the change, which contradicts the nature of the map. “They wanted to build the map around SMGs. And now they do this [with the cave]? It honestly makes no sense,” writes spacetravellerAMA.
Maybe you will get lucky and take out a streamer there. You can follow the reaction right away:
In this video, you can see how ChocoTaco is the first to enter the cave, grabs a powerful weapon, and becomes unstoppable.
Some are happy about the cave: Players who successfully loot weapons in the cave and come out alive are pleased. Many admit, however, that this hideout is totally overpowered.
