The large “Fix PUBG” campaign has ended. The developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds explain what players can expect in the coming months. However, it is not primarily about new content. Precautions must be taken first.
In August, PUBG started a major battle against bugs and other issues under the theme “Fix PUBG“. Now, in mid-November, this campaign has ended.
The developers explain: Over 100 bugs have been fixed, quality-of-life updates have been implemented, and FPS has been improved. Additionally, the servers are running more stably, and over 2 million accounts have been swept from the game due to anti-cheat measures.
In an open letter, PUBG stated that it had previously focused too much on delivering gameplay updates quickly. Important issues were overlooked. This should not happen again in 2019.
Quality and Stability in Focus
For 2019, the PUBG team prioritizes stability and quality in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. New gameplay features and content will be introduced only when the core is solid.
This will initially cost resources: In the Steam post, it says, “First, this will likely slow down our build rhythm. However, these processes will become more practiced, which is why we hope to deliver new content as quickly as before while maintaining the new stability and quality goal.”
“We cannot say yet how much time this will take. But we promise you that we will do our best to reach this phase as quickly as possible.”
What is planned for PUBG in 2019?
The post on Steam also gives an outlook on the upcoming changes to the battle royale hit.
Improved Matchmaking
A new interface is set to improve matchmaking in PUBG. Players should be able to better see how long the average wait time for a match is. Additionally, the current ping of the player will be displayed.
PUBG says: “With an improved matchmaking UI that is based on personal preferences, players can play in the environment and map/mode they desire. Even if that results in a longer wait time.”
Players should decide for themselves: The changes aim to provide players with important information. They should then assess the situation themselves and decide whether they prefer a shorter wait time or optimal server performance.
Issues that still remain
Players often report problems with character movements or desync. This is also evident in the comments of the Steam post. Players complain that they experience strong ping fluctuations and desync in their matches. They wish that these issues would finally be addressed.
