PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has started a new project that focuses more on combating cheaters. A cheater appeared to be particularly clever in his methods, but he was ultimately caught.
What happened? PUBG Mobile has released a new video on its YouTube channel that highlights the processes behind the hunt for cheaters. It revolves around the “Project Ban Pan.”
Although the video is made in a cinematic style, it is based on a real incident. It is styled like a spy or FBI film. The narrator mentions that recently a specific player who invested a lot of money in PUBG was banned for 10 years.
He then explains how the cheater was initially placed under observation, which ultimately led to his ban. You can watch the video here.
Why was the cheater clever? The narrator in the video explains that despite checks by PUBG’s anti-cheat system, Security Detection System, no use of cheating software was detected. The cheater apparently invented a new way of cheating that was only discovered through prolonged observation.
Towards the end of his matches, the player switched from one smartphone to another. This simulated connection issues and tricked the game’s system. His character became invincible.
On the second device, he then made quick work of his opponents thanks to cheats and then switched back to the first smartphone. This made it look like he had been playing normally the whole time.
When the developers sent a “Directional Monitoring Code” from the anti-cheat system to the second smartphone, they found the necessary evidence of cheating.
The banned player then caused a stir in the community and on social media, claiming that he was banned without cause. However, this did not change his ban.
The state of cheating in PUBG: Popular games like PUBG attract cheaters almost magically, and the battle royale shooter has a long history filled with bans.
Although the developers frequently take strong action against cheaters, new ones keep appearing. Here are some examples of PUBG cheater stories:
