In PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PC, Xbox One), thousands of players fight for victory every day. Typically, ruthless battles ensue, but sometimes true honorable men and women meet on the battlefield and decide the victory through a duel.
Every fan of samurai films and anime knows the following scene: Two samurai stand opposite each other. Each has their hand on their sword, staring at each other for what feels like an eternity. At an invisible signal, they suddenly run towards each other. The katanas flash, a brief moment passes, and then one of the two collapses, slashed open. The duel is decided, and the victor walks away.
A situation like this recently occurred in the battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. But with a unique, typical PUBG twist.
The Appearance of the Frying Pan Warrior
Streamer Jake “ChocoTaco” Throop was having a good day. Only one opponent stood between him and a well-deserved chicken dinner in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Usually, such final moments in PUBG are almost unmatched in tension. Players are on edge, and any mistake could be the last.
But Jake’s opponent was simply standing on the green heath, frying pan in hand. As the streamer cautiously approached, the unknown frying pan warrior called out to him, “Hey, I’m watching your stream! How’s it going?”
Draw Your Frying Pan, Let’s Settle This!
Quickly, it became clear that the unknown player was a big fan of Jake and wanted to settle the final duel for the chicken dinner with a frying pan. However, Jake currently had no pan at hand.
By chance, however, a frying pan-wielding teammate had recently died in the vicinity, allowing for the urgently needed kitchen utensil to be obtained.
To make things even more exciting, both players removed their helmets, and Jake threw five smoke grenades to enhance the atmosphere further.
Duel in the Fog
As soon as the grenades were thrown and the area was shrouded in dense fog, it began! Like the samurai previously mentioned, the two ran through the fog toward each other, trying to smash each other’s heads with their frying pans. The two “frying pan samurai” repeatedly emerged from the smoke, swinging their pans.
It got tight, and Jake took a heavy hit. But then his opponent ran into the frying pan, and with a satisfying “Klonk,” the enemy dropped to the ground.
Jake truly deserved his chicken dinner. He thanked his honorable opponent with a relieved “GG” and celebrated the victory by downing a bottle of soda! Cheers!
Such special actions are always well received in the community. It’s simply nice when in a game plagued by cheaters two gamers agree to an honorable duel for the final victory and actually go through with it!
By the way, there have been such situations before. Some time ago, two players settled the duel for the chicken dinner with their fists.
