A new banwave in PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) is hitting users of a hack that was thought to be undetectable. Even professionals seem to have been caught.
What happened? A new anti-cheat measure has gone live in PUBG, resulting in many players being banned. Unofficial sources indicate about 37,000 banned players. Among them seem to be 16 professional players.
Which hack was detected? The banwave seems to target users of a radar hack. According to player reports, this hack circulated for about a year and was previously thought to be undetectable.
What do the professionals say about it?
Players from the clan Sans Domicile Fixe have admitted to cheating. An official investigation is currently underway against a player from Pittsburgh Knights.
This is what the team Pittsburgh Knights says: “Honesty and integrity are core values within the Knights organization. Cheating in any form undermines not only our team but also esports as a whole. We take the VAC ban against our TEXQS very seriously. We respect and support PUBG Corp. in this investigation without reservation. We are currently working with them and await the announcement of their findings.” the team writes on Twitter.
Until the investigation is completed, the team has excluded player Can TEXQS Ozdemir from further games. The team’s statement has caused confusion, as they mention a VAC ban that excluded the player. VAC stands for Valve Anti-Cheat. PUBG coach and analyst Krimson Aer says on Twitter that the ban on TEXQS clearly comes from PUBG itself, not from Valve.
The players of SDF would have lost hard without cheats: On Twitter, PUBG analyst and caster Avnqr claims that players from the SDF clan cheated in online qualifiers. This allowed them to reach a point in the tournament that took place as a LAN offline event. After 14 games, they were in last place. This poor performance could be due to online cheats being ineffective at the LAN tournament.
Which players were banned? A list is circulating on Reddit with the names of professional players who have allegedly been affected by the ban. Among them are: PlayerJones, Hoffmann88, sezk0, TEXQS, Cuhris, Tefl0n, SIDJkee, Smitty, Papaya, Cageman, houlow, and Kraqen.
