Currently, one of the hottest games in summer 2017 is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). The interview provides hints about what is being worked on.
PUBG has sold 2.8 million copies in 2 months
PlayerUnknown is Brendan Greene, and he was in an interview with the US site Gamespot. His game “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” is currently a hit on Steam. While PUBG still lags behind Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, it is ahead of games like ARK, Team Fortress 2, or even the big GTA V.
In two months, PUBG has sold over 2.8 million copies.
It has also taken a clear lead over H1Z1: King of the Kill. This is the battle royale game Greene worked on before. Even earlier, Greene essentially founded the genre when he designed a battle royale mod for Arma 3.

It is quite strange that Greene now competes with his “old employer” with the new game.
Greene says that was not his intention. He wanted to build a game that lies between H1Z1 and his own Arma mod. He believes that a new game combines the best features of H1Z1 and his Arma mod.
He is not on bad terms with H1Z1, he says. But only with his own game could he fulfill his dream – the vision of his idea that he has in mind.
Loot boxes and cosmetic items are to come – but only after the release
For the future, Greene has some plans:
- There will be a “quiet room” before a match where players are not exposed to the verbal bombardment that currently occurs before matches.
- No progression system is planned, as the randomness of how a match develops makes that unnecessary.
- Every month during early access, a new weapon will come.
- They are also working on two new maps and new game modes.
- A port to PS4 and Xbox One is also planned. But there is no release date yet.
- Battlegrounds wants to introduce cosmetic items and loot boxes. But only after the game leaves early access. Before that, they want to introduce it only for testing purposes to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
It is interesting that PUBG is even used for amusing roleplay:
