With only a few weeks left until the release of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on September 6, the developers are revealing more and more new monsters that will appear with the expansion. The latest monster is Yian Garuga.
Who is Yian Garuga? The monster was first introduced in the game Monster Hunter Freedom. It is a bird wyvern that is a larger and more aggressive version of the lively monster Yian Kut-Ku and can be a real nuisance.

Not only is the beast as aggressive as a Rathian, it also has a large arsenal of annoying traits:
- It can fly
- Its scream is stunning
- It has an annoying poisonous tail
- Can also spit fire
- It is ugly as night
These traits have earned the monster the affectionate nickname “Psycho Chicken” in the community. Yian Garuga appears for a few frames in the new Japanese TV commercial for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne:
In Monster Hunter World, the monsters from earlier titles have always received some new tricks to keep the veterans of the series on their toes. So one can be curious about what Yian Garuga will bring to Iceborne.

We all love him, we just can’t admit it after he whooped our asses dozens of times.
