The PlayStation Network is currently having serious problems. Logging in is not possible this evening, on October 21st.
Update October 22nd – 9 AM: Only now does PlayStation announce that all services are running properly again. They apologize for the downtime.
Update 8:20 PM: The login at PSN is once again not working. It seems that this will take a while longer before the services are stable again. It is believed that these are large-scale DDoS attacks, which also affected other major online services throughout the day, such as Twitter or Spotify. PSN maintenance is not planned for today.
Before the attacks reached Europe, the East Coast of the USA was especially affected. The US government is said to be investigating the incident as a “criminal act”.
PSN is offline, login is not possible
This afternoon there were already isolated problems with the PSN. Now it is completely down. Those trying to log in on PS4 and PS3 are confronted with a message that the server connection has been interrupted. The PlayStation does not connect to the PSN.
These problems have now been officially reported for a few minutes. The PSN server status reports: All services are down. However, they are working on it:

When you can play online again remains unknown for now. At the moment, you are only faced with errors. This is particularly annoying today – after all, many want to play the newly released Battlefield 1.
Sony has not provided any reason for this.
