The PSN is down again today, January 28th. Players are unable to log into the PSN Network. The error code CE-34861-2 occurs. What does Sony say about the issues and disturbances?
This week, the PlayStation Network is causing players serious problems. The PSN was already offline for several hours twice this week, and today, January 28th, disturbances are occurring again. Since about 2 PM on Sunday afternoon, reports have been coming in that one cannot log in or play online anymore.
Also, the friends list and other online services are not loading. Error messages appear, such as CE-34861-2. This means that the connection fails. The PSN is unreachable. However, it does not seem to be completely down, as one can log into some games. But connection interruptions keep occurring.
At 2:13 PM, the official PSN status was updated. The account management, gaming, and social networks are affected by the issues. Sony writes:
- You may have difficulties starting games, applications, or online features. Our developers are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your patience.
- You may experience problems logging into PlayStation™Network or creating an account. Our developers are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your patience.
The affected platforms are PS4, PS3, and “others.”
There has been no statement from Sony yet on the official Twitter account.
In summary: It’s not your internet connection causing the current problems with the PSN, but Sony’s fault. How long the disturbances will last is still uncertain. The PSN had issues last Tuesday and Friday that could only be resolved after hours.
