For about a month now, PS5 players have been complaining in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare about technical issues. Various modes have been affected by the problems, including multiplayer. Some reddit users believe that CoD: Warzone is the cause of the annoyances.
Currently, PS5 players seem to be having technical issues with CoD: Modern Warfare. An error message is prompting the installation of data. However, that doesn’t work.
On reddit, users are sharing the problem. Some suspect that CoD: Warzone is the trigger for the technical issues in the game.

The installation of the missing data packages is not possible
What problems are PS5 players experiencing? The problem occurs in the three modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops. When the player attempts to start one of these modes, a message appears stating that the required data packages are not installed.
If the players then want to follow the game’s instructions and download the missing data, they are shown another error message: The installation is “suspended”.
Does Activision know about the problems of PS5 players? The problem that players are currently facing is already listed as a known issue on the Activision Support page: Here, it describes the problem for PS5 players that they cannot install multiplayer packs due to interrupted installation (via support.activision).
Users believe: Activision neglects Modern Warfare due to Warzone
What does Warzone have to do with the problem? The website Eurogamer and some reddit users suspect that CoD: Warzone is responsible for the problems in CoD: Modern Warfare.
Eurogamer explains the issues as follows: Since CoD: Modern Warfare was supplemented by CoD: Warzone, the game has been problematic. With every CoD: Warzone patch, data in Modern Warfare is deleted and needs to be downloaded again every time. The downloads consistently involve several hundred gigabytes of data. As a result, it becomes unclear which data is actually needed to play CoD: Modern Warfare. (via eurogamer).
Additionally, Activision’s resources are currently primarily invested in CoD: Warzone, causing predecessor games like CoD: Modern Warfare to be sidelined. Therefore, this game allegedly receives less attention.
Some reddit users share a similar opinion, blaming Warzone for the technical issues in Modern Warfare: Users write that CoD: Modern Warfare is falling short after the release of CoD: Warzone, and updates have since become so necessary that the data sizes in the game are becoming too large (via reddit).
