The Golden Joystick Awards 2021 have finally decided a question that has been circling the gamer community for years: namely, what the best gaming platform is. This has now been officially confirmed: According to the Golden Joystick Awards, the PC is the pinnacle of gaming hardware of all time!
What are the Golden Joystick Awards? Since 1983, awards for games and gaming-related topics have been presented every year as part of the Golden Joystick Awards. Voting takes place online and everyone can participate. The ceremony took place on November 23, 2021.
The event was presented by actors Nolan North and Emily Rose, who portray the characters Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher in the Uncharted series, among others.
In addition to the best games in various genres, there are also awards for fundamental topics, such as best storytelling or for hardware. There was an interesting new category in 2021.
PlayStation 5 wins Hardware Award 2021, but the PC is the best of all time
What did the PS5 win? In the category “Best Gaming Hardware,” this year the PlayStation 5 won. Last year, it was the RTX 3080 graphics card. But those who are already celebrating as PS5 fans and seeing the current PlayStation as the best hardware need to read the list of awards to the end.
Why is the PC still the pinnacle? Because at the end of the list, there is a new category in 2021 that awards the ultimate game of the year, the ultimate game of all time, and the ultimate hardware of all time. And for hardware, the PC was chosen as the pinnacle of all time.
The award was accepted by Valve head Gabe Newell. In his brief speech, he stated that players and developers alike have benefited enormously from the many innovations in PC gaming hardware.
After all, the PC has been a gaming platform for decades, and a fully equipped gaming PC still beats any console in terms of performance and presentation.
What else was awarded? The Ultimate Game of the Year (and best PS5 game) was Resident Evil Village, while Hitman 3 was named the best PC game. Psychonauts 2 won the award for Xbox, and the Mobile LoL Wild Rift is the best mobile game of 2021. The top game of all time is actually Dark Souls.
The best studio in 2021 is Capcom, from which Resident Evil also originates. This also fits with the award for best actress, which Maggie Robertson received for her performance as vampire lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village.
