Together with the price of the PlayStation 5, Sony also released the PS5 accessories available at launch, including costs for the DualSense controller & Co. And it is slightly more expensive than expected.
Sony lets the price bomb go off: For a long time, Sony kept players in suspense, but on September 16, the price and release date of the PlayStation 5 were finally revealed. A possible pre-order followed shortly after and caused immediate chaos and long faces among PS5 fans.
Together with the price of the console, the PS5 peripherals were also presented. These are the costs for the official PS5 accessories:
- DualSense™ Wireless Controller – 69.99 €
- PULSE 3D ™ – Wireless Headset – 99.99 €
- HD Camera (with two 1080p lenses) – 59.99 €
- Media Remote – 29.99 €
- DualSense™ Charging Station (can charge 2 controllers simultaneously) – 29.99 €
Of all the listed devices, only one DualSense controller is included with the purchase of a console. The rest of the accessories must be purchased separately.
The accessories will be available at the same time as the launch of the new Sony console. However, we in the German-speaking region belong to the second release wave and therefore have to wait one week longer.
PS5 pre-order: It turns out that the PS5 is actually available again and again at various shops. For a short time, it was available for purchase again at Amazon, OTTO, and MediaMarkt. However, it sells out very quickly each time. Therefore, it is always worth checking back with the shops. We will keep you updated here, of course.

Why is the new PS5 controller so expensive?
This is how expensive the PS4 controller was at launch: When the PlayStation 4 celebrated its release (2013), the DualShock controller cost 59.99 €. Thus, the PS5 counterpart is 10 € more expensive – but why is that?
These are the new features: As a new and special feature, Sony mentions among other things the “haptic gameplay”. You should feel through the controller what kind of surface your character is moving on. This was also confirmed by Geoff Keighly during a play event.
The further specifications are:
- A longer battery life (compared to the DualShock 4)
- The battery is permanently installed – In contrast, the Xbox Series X controller uses replaceable batteries
- Adaptive triggers
- Ergonomics: the DualSense is slightly smaller than the DualShock 4
- Modified touchpad with lightbars
- Create button (an enhanced share button)
- Jack connection for your headset
- Integrated microphone
- The controller reacts to your “blowing”.

Due to the increased list of features and detail improvements, the end price of the DualSense also rises.
But not only the controller has become slightly more expensive. Games will also dig a little deeper into your pockets in the upcoming generation. Some titles will cost up to 80 €.
